Whether you think you may have an infected tooth, or you’ve lost one or more teeth due to gum disease, tooth decay, or an oral injury, we can get your smile back to optimal health. Here are a few things to know about restorative dentistry at Pinnacle Family Dental:

Your Options For Restoring Damaged Teeth

If you think that one of your teeth has been damaged by tooth decay, you have a number of options when it comes to repairing and restoring it. Our team can also restore your tooth if it’s been damaged due to a slip and fall or another impact injury.

  • Fillings – Fillings are the most common way to repair a tooth that’s been damaged by tooth decay. The affected enamel is trimmed away and removed, and then a mercury-amalgam or porcelain filling is used to replace it.
  • Crowns – Dental crowns cover and “cap” the entire chewing surface of your tooth, making them ideal for cases of advanced tooth decay, or if your entire tooth is cracked or damaged.
  • Root canals – A root canal is a treatment that removes decaying tooth material from an infected tooth. A small opening is made in the tooth, and then it’s cleaned and disinfected, and covered with a filling or a crown.

Your Options For Replacing Missing Teeth

If you have one or more missing teeth, replacing them right away is the best way to preserve your bite and your oral health, keeping your gum and jawbone strong. Options for restoring missing teeth include:

  • Dentures – Partial dentures can replace one or several missing teeth, while a full arch of dentures replaces the upper, lower, or both arches of teeth, and requires any remaining teeth to be extracted.
  • Crowns & bridges – Dental bridges use a pair of crowns, which are attached to healthy teeth in the mouth, and support a replacement tooth, which fills in the gap where the old tooth used to be.
  • Dental implants – Dental implants are a two-part restoration. The implant itself is a small, rod-shaped piece of titanium, which is inserted where the root of your missing tooth used to be. Then, after this implant heals, a false tooth made of porcelain is bonded to it permanently. Dental implants look and feel natural, and can easily last 30 years or longer.
