Smile Confidently Again

If you are missing one or more teeth, dentures are a restorative dental option that will give you confidence and a smile that looks natural. We offer full and partial dentures, as well as implant supported dentures, for patients who are looking to restore their smile and fill in gaps from multiple missing teeth. Come in for a consultation with Dr. Kim to see whether dentures are the right option for you.

Full & Partial Dentures

There are two types of dentures - full and partial dentures. Full (or complete) dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting. During the treatment process, highly accurate impressions are taken and used to create your custom denture and to ensure perfect fit and function. If you are missing one or more teeth, give us a call today to schedule a consultation!

Implant Supported Dentures

Implant supported dentures are a great alternative to standard dentures. Traditional dentures are supported only by friction between the gums and the denture. Implant-supported dentures, on the other hand, use 4-6 dental implants to permanently attach them to your jawbone. If you are interested in a more permanent option to replace multiple missing teeth, give us a call today to schedule an appointment.

Are Dentures Right For Me?

Depending on your budget, your oral health, and a number of other factors, dentures from Dr. Hyun Dong Kim at Pinnacle Family Dental may be a good option for you. Dentures are very convenient, provide fast results, and are often covered by dental insurance. Partial dentures may be recommended for you if you are missing multiple teeth. Usually, partial dentures are used to treat up to 1-8 missing teeth. The dental prosthesis is custom-built to snap in place securely by attaching to your remaining healthy teeth.

Are Dentures a Permanent Solution?

In most cases, partial dentures are used as a temporary solution before the placement of a dental implant or a bridge. This is because partial dentures help prevent teeth from shifting toward empty sockets in your mouth, which is a common issue after tooth loss. However, some patients may opt to have partial dentures as a long-term solution for replacing their missing teeth.

Full dentures, on the other hand, are only recommended for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth. This is because they fit over your gums and require the removal of any remaining teeth before they can be fitted, built, and placed properly. If you have lost most or all of your teeth due to severe oral trauma, advanced gum disease, or extensive tooth decay, full dentures are usually the fastest and most affordable way to restore your smile.

What Can I Expect From The Dentures Process?

The dentures process is mostly identical for both partial and full dentures. If you’re having full dentures placed, though, all of your remaining teeth must be extracted before the denture placement process can begin. After your teeth are extracted, you’ll get a temporary set of dentures to wear while your permanent dentures are being made.

To ensure that your dentures fit properly, Dr. Hyun Dong Kim will take impressions and images of your teeth and gums. This information will be sent to a trusted third-party dental lab where your first set of trial dentures will be made.

Your trial dentures will typically be made of wax or plastic. They will be sent to our office where you will try them on, and Dr. Kim will ensure that they fit properly. Once Dr. Kim approves the design of your dentures, your final set of permanent dentures will be made. Finally, you may come in for a follow-up appointment to discuss the fit and comfort of your dentures. If there are issues with comfort or proper fit, Dr. Kim will modify or adjust the dentures to ensure they fit properly.
